Richard from Zambia visited Wiveliscombe Beavers and Explorers on April 1st. and received 'goodies' collected from many in Taunton District & also a leader from South Somerset.

The goodies included scarves, woggles, badges, uniform, t-shirts, paper, pencils etc. All we hope is that Richard has a large enough suitcase to take these things back with him!

Pam gaines the GSL writes:-

Richard spent 2 hours with Wivey last night & only left when he was dragged off to dinner!

Many thanks to all of you who provided “goodies” for Richard to take back to Kitwe. He was really overwhelmed by your generosity.

He was looking forward to packing everything into his case – hopefully it is a big case! Fortunately badges, scarves and woggles are nice and light.

He is hoping to use some of the things to encourage the young people in his District.

Richard is hoping that we can build up a long term link with this District. He will be looking for ways we can help him and he will keep us informed about what is happening out there.

I will talk with my contacts at Kingsmead School and establish who is travelling to Kitwe this year & if we can find a little space in one of their suitcases.

Richard was busy writing down ideas for activities.   He really would like ideas for activities. If anyone can come up with some good ideas that we can e-mail over to him –bearing in mind the lack of facilities in some of the area – he would love to receive them, so if you have a spare minute……..
